Floods in Jauharabad.
I believe floods are our toughest scenario. It’s very difficult to predict how bad it will be. Floods are the deadliest, and the most expensive natural disasters in My city Jauharabad.
My beautiful city is facing the worst disaster in its history. Its facing heavy floods.Stories of people encountering dangerous floodwaters and then attempting to drive through them anyway. Only to find them trapped, putting themselves and the first responders in danger. Some even drive around barriers, thinking they can make it across. The force and power of Floods water are always underestimated, that’s why the barriers are there in the first place. Many deaths have occurred and the loss of property is also too much.
I want to describe my city here. It is a beautiful well-planned city that was planned for the capital of Pakistan. All the residential areas are in blocks and every block has its own parks and greenbelts the greenery of the city enhances its beauty. Its beauty also attracts bureaucrats. There are also colonies around the city that are not planned and mostly the residential area of the middle class and poor people. River Jhelum is near and also Mountains of Skesar (Highest Peak of Punjab). Basically its the Desert area Thal(The famous desert of Pakistan) under the mountain near the river.
Monsoon Rainand floods condition in Jauharabad
Jauharabad is a desert area so receive less rainfall only 100mm annually but this year it received 480 mm. My city faced heavy floods. I heard the two residential areas of colonies are badly effected by rainfall and heavy flood. There is about seven to eleven feet water in the houses the people of the colonies are on the railway track. Many boys and men who tried to fetch their households injured or to be drowned. Even The highway closed for traffic because roads also sank.
It was a horrible situation and the water was increasing every minute and then this disaster prevailed in the city. This alarming situation was also awakening to the administration of the city. The water is still increasing all the colonies around the city have been in critic condition.
I don’t know what will be with us tomorrow but one thing is pinching me badly. In City and posh areas living bureaucrats and cream of the city. Once again the wealth defeated the disaster. They try to move the flow to the colonies. Their cemented houses are present with the same glory and the houses of the poor are broken even they died under the broken houses. The children and ladies of noble families are still sleeping on the Railway track but thanks to our Private education sector they are accommodating the affected families in their school and college buildings. Thanks to the people who try to feed them.
Mostly the people are there too poor vendors, Rikshaw Drivers, or Labour Class .their houses have been broken. Their survival is too difficult .is this a time of trial for them? it’s too tuff and if this our time of trial than its many many times tuff. We are too much worry this time and try always to know the position of floods.
What will be with us?
We need the right information at the right time to make decisions that will make a difference in saving lives or moving resources around. We’re trying to acquire any kind of information that would help us understand the size and scope of a flood. You know, the faster that we can get the information, the faster we can get it into the hands of the ground teams, the first responders, as well as to the senior decision-makers.
Please Pray for us for my city for my people. I am feeling that my house is a ship in the sea.
